Some Thoughts On VA Emblems Of Faith

We were just talking about it a little while ago here at the house, and I've of course seen a lot of discussion on a multitude of online forums. Now that the pentacle has been approved for military memorial markers, people are talking about what symbols are next...and it looks like the Thor's Hammer is up in line.

The pentacle's approval came with orders for the VA to approve all requested emblems of belief. Some folks don't realize that the Missouri Synod of Lutherans and the Seventh Day Adventists got backed up during the pentacle fight.

If all goes as supposed to, there should be no fight. There should be no need. I don't know if anyone's requested a Thor's Hammer yet, but when they do, it should be approved in reasonable time. (I honestly don't know what is actually reasonable for the VA. I've heard numbers for the Sikh symbol quoted anywhere from three to thirty days. There have been others, including Christian symbols, that have gotten backed up for months. Ten years is not reasonable. But that's done now.)

I have seen people on forums talking about lining up people to request (insert a number of other symbols here) but I think that's a little crazy. Unless there are folks serving who will want a particular symbol, there's no reason to assume that any particular one must be fought for...and even then, the request for a new symbol can't be made until someone of that religion has died.

So why are there people talking about lining up lawsuits for other symbols that haven't even been requested yet as far as anyone knows?
