This guy is running for president, or at least for the primaries. In Oregon.

Based on his platform (http://www.smithforpresident.com/Platform.htm) I'd vote for him- there are a few things that I don't entirely agree with, but overall, I think I'd be hard-pressed to find one that I do entirely agree with.

We'll see what happens in the primaries.

(Oh yeah...he's a Republican!?! Yes, yes, I know what the republican party once was....)

Wow, I'm impressed. He manages to straddle the line between Republican and Libertarian beliefs, which I like.

This is what the GOP used to be all about - the party I registered for. The party that was pro-Suffrage (Susan B. Anthony was a GOP member), pro-civil rights (Lincoln, ahem), a Faith of One's Free Choice and Expression, and Pro an individuals' right to succeed or fail on his own or her merits.

Unfortunately, some members of the Social Conservatives found that they liked Big Government their way - and the GOP went from a tool for the championship of Individiual Rights to an Arm of the Religious Right. But, I believe we can create the party that it used to be again.
