I just rejoined an emai list that I hadn't been on for a couple of years...it's a list for Central PA pagans...figured I'd try to reconnect with some of the people I hadn't talked to in a long time...and I found out that my friend Doug died of cancer. There were a number of solitaries in the area that would get together from time to time, usually at Doug and his wife Heather's house. Realy great people...as wacko as anyone can be- in a good way of course. Fairly hard-line pagans, but of their five kids, both of their sons chose to be Christian instead, and they were just fine with it, a they asked was that they maintaned respect for all religions. I should track down Heather's email and say hello...

Wow...that's realy sad...

Hmmmmm...

Someone commented on the [livejournal.com profile] religiousdebate community that children are born atheists.

Someone else pointed out that being atheist indicates an ability to decide if they believe or not.

My first thought to that would be "So it would make more sense to say that children are born agnostic."

But that also implies enough knowledge to say "I don't know the answer and it can't be proved either way, I don't believe but I don't disbelieve. I don't know."

The knowledge to know that they dont know.

What is the religious and/or spiritual nature of children and babies?

For Midsummer last year, Cedarlight did the Chocolate Ritual.

This year we're doing the Cheese Ritual. Roman pantheon.

They asked me to invoke Diana as the Gatekeeper. I can't write in Latin, so I'm writing it in Itaian, with a translation to follow.

So lo...I am writing a beautiful, dramatic, adoring, poetic, imploring invocation...

To the Blessed Goddess of the large ball of mozerella that hangs brightly in the sky.

Yeah.

It really hurts me to think that people feel that they need to feel deep hurt because I've rejected Christianity.

In a way, it's like it hurts me that people can't understand that I've got something that's just as wonderful for me...and I'd like to say that it hurts me that they can't see it like I do and have it for themselves...

...but if I've got something this great, but they've got something else so great that fills the same spot ib their life...then how can it hurt me?

It's like...I've got Hagen-Daazs ice cream, would you like some? Oh, you've got Ben and Jerry's? Cool! Well, uh...here's a picnic table, wanna share?
