Hry folks...a few months back, someone posted an article on their LJ about how quickly windows is comprimised just by being online long enough to download security updates.... [livejournal.com profile] aikinut or [livejournal.com profile] unprotize, I thought it was one of you guys but I don't see it reading over your journal archives for this year. Then again, I didn't re-read EVERY single entry. And I thought it had been posted with a subject line along the lines of "Like this is news?" or something.

If the original poster remembers this, could you drop me a link? Thanks

Anywhere between 8 and 20 minutes, but that changes with new versions of the O/S in question, patches, etc. Google for "minutes to compromise" should get you a nice spread to use for fear-mongering.

Wasn't me, sorry. I do remember reading it, so it's probably someone that's on both of our friends lists. Prote certainly leaps to mind as a possibility.
