Oct. 10th, 2006 02:22 pmAs to names, I had a HUGE problem with that at one time. Because of seeing the energies as energies and not people, I found it hard to give them names. However, the more I worked with the energy, the more I realised that it changes. It feels different depending on your purpose. I had been in the habit of addressing the Dieties as Lord and Lady, since it seemed to side step the need for names.
Then, I did a couple of big rituals with other people, and I began to realise that you need to give the individual energies names to identify them. For instance, Aphrodite is love energy, Pan is sexual, Hecate is wisdom and divination.
I hate statements like this. I really do.
Is that all you think of the gods? Just slap a label on "the energy" and you have 'em pigeonholed? Good grief. It's like sorting a laundry pile "Uh...I dunno where to put the Dionysus sock! Is he a drug god or a theater god, or wine or...or...or...he has to fit neatly into one pile!"
