The ring that holds my pentacle on its cord is going to break through like, any second....and in order to fix it, part of it will likely need to be melted off. I don't have the money to get it fixed. And when I do, I am worried that it will not be able to be fixed...or if it is, it won't be done right, that it will looked like it was obviously fixed....

I'm not one to cling to objects. Even ones of such significant meaning to me.

So why this one? Why do I feel so strange without it, even sitting right here next to me on the desk. Why does my neck feel totally naked?

Maybe it's just the timing, this whole I'm about to move again thing, and the breaking through of the ring. Or maybe that's a fabricated bunch of emotional blather.

For now I'm going to put a drop of crazy glue or something on the thin part of the ring and wrap it with thread and watch it VERY closely.

My faith is not in a piece of jewelery.

Pic if pentacle?

Can you provide a picture of your pentacle, or at least describe how it's made very well?

My father makes pentacles commercially (and has, for about 18 years), so there's a chance, a possibility, that it's one of his. He's slowed down over the years and gotten more competators so it's more likely his the older it is. What doesn't get mentioned often is that he has a lifetime guarantee on his work, so if it breaks, for any reason (solder joints are bad, time wore through the jumpring, fell in the garbage disposall) he'll repair it, free of charge.

IF it's one of his, it might be worth checking out.

I bought it at the PA Renaissance Fair in Mount Hope um in August 2001. Sorry, i don't think i have a picture...it's made of glass and metal (my stepfather thinks it's lead) the glass part is one of those round pebbles like you put in an aquarium, the pentacle is formed on top of and around the glass in the metal. the jump ring is embedded in the top of the metal and made of either copper or brass. there are no markings that might indicate who made it. is that a good enough description? i can't think of any other way to describe it...anyway, thanks for alerting me to this possibility...

Ah... it sounds like it isn't one of ours. My father works almost exlcusively in sterling silver wire work fabrication and semiprecious stones. Your description, including describing the metal as "lead" (it's probably pewter, not lead), the stone as "glass" and like an aquarium pebble, and a copper or brass jump ring sounds almost, but not quite exactly unlike anything my father would attach his name to.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get in contact with him in a while, and his web-site is down (looks like it was taken down by his ISP). I'm a little bit worried about him.

Because his page is down, his online catalog is gone, and web-pictures of his work are hard to find. Some still remain at Google, though. Take a look at the Google cache for an image search on "Magi Crafts". All the jewelery images shown are examples of my dad's work.
