badstarSpent most of yesterday at the Gay Pride festival. 'Twas a good day, though I got very slightly sunburned (and when I say slight, I mean that now, not 24 hours later, it's turned tan already).
I spent most of the day table-sitting for the Interfaith Fairness Coalition, handing out directories, talking about the organization and selling buttons
(The buttons? Awesome. I bought a couple myself:
"General System Error: Please sacrifice a goat and two chickens to continue."
"You're here to save my soul? I'm here to test your faith."
and "I am dyslexia of borg. Your ass will be laminated."
When I saw the last one, I laughted so hard I couldn't talk for several minutes.
I also got one for Caryn that says "Not born to multitask. Would all tasks please line up in order?"
Tattoos as social device....I must have talked to ten different people who have gone to the same tattoo artist as me. (Dave at the Baltimore Tattoo Museum. I definitely recommend.) and I got lots of inquiries about mine. One girl said she'd been following me for at least five minutes trying to catch up with me so she could see what was written on my back. Another has been studying the Homeric texts in ancient Greek and she actually recognized what it was. There was another girl who had this gorgeous dragonfly on her shoulder...it had no outline, it was strictly sections of varying greyscale shading. I was jealous. And I saw another text-only tattoo! It was a really beautiful poem in a gorgeous font (A fairly common font whose name I don't recall, a very elegant serif font with just a bit of curve to it here and there. I'd know it if I saw it.) but I don't remember it now, and I forget who she'd said wrote it.
