1. Awesome ritual.

2. Hilarious mistake.

In that order.

Saturday's Equinox ritual rocked like no other. I'm not sure what past ritual has been just that damned great (For me anyway). Maybe fall equinox 2005. And Beltane 2006. Possibly Samhain last year....vaguely possibly.

But wow, this was awesome. I don't know where to start. [livejournal.com profile] jackgreen60's lore of the season was amusing and relevant and soooo well done and delivered. Caryn's Hekate invocation with Jackie and [livejournal.com profile] pagandenma was really dramatic. And [livejournal.com profile] angelofastheny and I, I think did a pretty good thing with trading off on invocation and hymn-reading to Iris, offering some of every kind of skittles available, and then pouring crystals into the fire to make it burn rainbow colors. And [livejournal.com profile] chironcentaur's invocation and hymn to Hermes was just amazing.

I amused people when I referred to money as "presidential flashcards"...and had a bit of fun doing the final offerings of an image of Hermes to the grove for the altar to the gods (I took pictures of the facade of the B&O building downtown and framed the best one) and these little green coin-things from Mardi Gras with images of Hermes on them....and then offering the book in which I've been writing my hymns to the Greek gods in general (I plan to fill that particular book up, and then once full, will offer the book itself as the first completed copy atthe next appropriate ritual.) And I read the hymn to Hekate, Iris and Hermes.

I left the grove on Saturday night in a serious post-ritual mellow and was dead within about an hour of getting home. (Did I mention, sleep Friday night was practically nonexistent...)

I might write a more detailed account later. Or not, I dunno. It was a really good ritual though.

On Sunday, I really wanted an iced orange mocha from Starbucks, so post-grove, [livejournal.com profile] chironcentaur and I headed over to Harford road to wait for the 19 down to the Harbor. There was an older couple sitting on the bench when we got there and the lady started talking to us. I don't remember what she first said, or how on earth the conversation evolved, but she was really funny. Next thing you know, she's talking about how it's important to connect to people in this world, and how people need friends and who knows what else, but it didn't take long before we realized...she thought we were a lesbian couple! This lady was an absolute trip, in between making fun of my fuzzy yellow bag, calling it a throw-up bag (which of course, Gavin latched right onto and continued to do for the rest of the day, finally I informed her that "throw-up bag" just sounds stupid, and it's "barf bag" if she must.) and going on about how relationships work better if you're friends first, and how people will always snip at each other, it was one of the most hilarious conversations I've been involved in in a long time, we were laughing so much and just didn't have the heart to tell her that we're not a couple, but roommates.

So that was the grand amusement for the day...and then the big disappointment came in getting to Barnes and Noble and finding out that orange mocha was a seasonal drink, so they were out of the orange syrup. I was bummed out for that, and decided that I was going to find ne today...well, I got a latestart on the day andthat never happened. Even XS, with it's huge collection of all kinds of bizarre flavorings, did not have orange. *sigh*

but I did have a Philly roll and Vietnamese spring rolls.
