2012...'Cause 2000 is so 1999

Okay...so one of the Mayan calendars rolls over and starts new in 2012. Why is this some massive apocalyptic thing? Why am I seeing an ever-increasing number of "OMG World's Gonna End!!!!" posts on various places all over teh intarnetz?*** And when is Prince gonna start singing about partying like it's 2011? Granted it doesn't roll off the tongue quite so nicely as "party like it's 1999" but, ya know...there's gotta be a way to make it work.




***This is rhetorical. Yes, I am aware of the many theories based on the "Mayan calendar coming to an end"...like I said, it starts over. It's cyclical.
