So I left the office this morning and got up to the light rail. The warning lights were all weird, and I thought a train was coming when I was only like halfway there, so I thought I was going to miss one...but no train appeared by the time I got to the stop. Sigh of relief, train's not due for another couple of minutes, right?

Riiiiiiiight.

Three minutes later, train is due...doesn't show up. Wait a few more minutes, no big deal...ten minutes later, still isn't there. Okay, so one came early maybe, left just before I walked out of the office?

Another ten minutes pass and finally a train shows up. And promptly announces that he's only goping to falls road. Seems a tree fell on the tracks and took out the train service above North ave through Mt Washington. Busses are going to pick us up atfalls road to go down to North ave.

Well hell. How long's this going to take? Train down to Falls road. There's a bus waiting-woohoo!

But wait, it's not that simple. It's one bus, not enough room to hold all the passengers on the train. I'm next in line, driver closes the door in my face. The world officially hates me.

So there's transit supervisor standing there, I ask if she knows when another bus is coming. Nope, not a clue. It ended up taking a good fifteen minutes for two buses to show up but we weren't supposed to get on the first one. WTF? Whatever.

So getting on the second bus,the one going south, a bunch of people going north also decided to get one...so that mess needed to be straightened out. Then the supervisor makes the driver count the number of passengers. Which takes like three times because she couldn't count for some reason. I was waiting for her to tell us to go around the bus and count off ourselves. Then the driver asks the supervisor "Uh, so where am I going?" The driver tells her to go to the North ave light rail stop. She says she has no idea where that is.

Greeeeeeeat.

Oh yeah, then a couple of other people ask if she's stopping at the intermediate light rail stops, because all this time, they've been talking in terms of going straight to North ave. But seeing as though if the train were working, they'd be taking the train to those stops, one would assume that the bus taking place of the train would go there, right?

Apparently they hadn't thought of that, or jsut assumed everyone was going to North ave or...whatever. Now it stands to say that I was not happy at the prospect of taking even longer to get home because the bus had to go to each of the stops, but I know that if I were on the train and suddenly made to get off and get on a bus...and the bus was supposed to take the place of my train but wasn't going to my train stop, I'd be royally irked. Therefore, I found all the people that were complaining about the idea of the bus making the intermediate stops really irritating.

"I have to get to North Ave so I can get to work!"

Yeah asshole, you see that lady there, she needs to get to Cold Spring so she can get to work. So stfu already and deal.

In the end, no one needed to stop at Mount Washington or Woodberry, just Cold Spring. So it wasn't too much of an interruption. Most of the fiasco though was explaining to the driver where to go- it's kinda sad when the bus passengers have to give the drivers directions, no?

This whole nightmare took an hour and a half longer than it normally does for me to get home. So I didn't get to bed til after 1030. THEN I couldn't sleep for a while- probably a good 45 minutes. Then I kept getting woken up.

Does anyone know What the hell is up with the masses of idiots riding dirt bikes in packs- sometimes looking like as many as fifty or sixty taking up the street- all over the city loud enough that you can hear them three miles away? I'm so freakin' sick of that sound. I can hear it with my windows closed. I swear, one of these days one of them is going to roll their bike popping a wheelie and I'm not going to feel at all sorry for them.

So I finally wake up like ten minutes before I have to leave for an appointment- this means my sleep is cut even shorter today- and *almost* miss a bus because I can never remember to double-check the bus schedule to get me up to Hampden until right before I leave on alternating Tuesdays.

*sigh*

Believe it or not, I'm still in a decent mood.

I stopped in Giant at the Rotunda after said appointment to grab a snack since I didn't eat anything today. I happened to walk down the aisle with Asian foods and saw something I've been looking for for a good year and a half now- Thai kitchen sweet chilli sauce. That stuff is so good. a bottle appeared mysteriously in the fridge at the house on Calvert street and no one ever figured out where it came from. When the bottle was empty, I tried for a while to find more but never managed to. ...and here it was. So I snagged a bottle.

Now I'm at work.
