badstarSo I was off work yesterday and guess how I spent it?
Fixing my computer. The only good thign about fixing my own computer is that there's no one to argue with me about it and question my judgement. The night before, the computer decided to just stop recognizing the startup disk. WTF? (There were a few minor issues before that...Stickies quit whenever I tried to copy or paste something. Safari would crash on occasion...though I'm pretty sure I'm responsible for that. 15 tabs in one browser window open for 5 or 6 days at a time? Yeeeeeeah....that can't have ANYTHING to do with crashing Safari.*Hangs head in shame for about a nanosecond*)
Disk utility said everythign was just smurfy. Reset PRAM and firmware a few times (I forget why I got it into my head that I was having firmware issues...but I know I have a very clear train of thought at the time...) And then it got to the point where it would boot up to JUST before my desktop loaded and I'd be left on this blue screen. So I archive/installed the OS and that went nicely.
After that. tried to open Safari...it wouldn't open. Remembered that I didn't update the OS again so I tried to do that....And I got permissions errors. Realized I had another program open. Clsoed it, tried again...permissions errors. Rebooted, tried again...permissions errors....ran DFA to repair permissions...permissions errors...tried downloading an individual update from the website, tried it that way. If you guessped permissions erros...well, no not exactly. Disk Image failed to load errors....pprobably because of a permissions error.
*Sigh* I think I may just grab an external hard drive this weekend (Like I was planning to do weeks ago anyway) Back up muy music and stuff and wipe the drive. I haven't wiped the drive since before Christmas!

smileydee Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday while you were at your computer...but I left a message with what I had to say.
Other than that...nothing exciting really. Um...i'm really digging some different music now...not new. And not even "New To Me" really. Red House Painters and Duncan Sheik are good tunes. And Adam Cohen put out a new release in the fall, i just found out and have heard some clips from...Must...Aquire...CD....Also, he has a band called Low Millions. Heard some stuff from that one too. Another Must-have. I also still need to get EP Bergen's Airport Lounge.
Oh yeah...and I'm reasonably sure that I'm going to dye my hair turquoise this weekend.
