Til It Hurts
Oct. 10th, 2005 09:40 pmMy shoulders, my arms, my abs, everywhere on my legs except for my calves/shins hurt. My weekend wasn't exactly the best, there were some points where I was really unhapy...but I'll write about that later. Right now I just feel REALLY good (Though tired.)
I danced for what seemed like forever Saturday night.
I forgot the staff at home, but yesterday I came upon a group of spinners jamming, including someone who had a couple of extra staffs.
Staffs built especially for contact work.
Which means that I was spinning with one that was considerably longer (though I think about the perfect length), much thicker (took some getting used to) and at least twice as heavy as what I'm used to. REALLY good for sloooooow spinning. Also huge wicks, which burned forever.
I picked up a new move or two, resurrected an old one and actually did some throwing...I could never figure out how to throw smoothly until I realized that there is a very easy way to do it. I even threw while lit...though I never caught it.
I have always refused to spin with anyhitng involving white gas, even a mixture. I wanted to spin so badly last night though, that I lit up with 50/50 and had no problems with it.
I also taught a new staff spinner some moves...that was a lot of fun.
And I got the most brilliant idea for staff contruction...using tennis raquet grip instead of just tape.
AND I finally got a poi move that I've been trying to do for about a year now. Several people have tried to teach me...but I got it!
AND I can hula hoop now...sorta. For like several continuous seconds (not just twice around and drops.)
And I must say, it is a bit of an ego trip to have people that blow my mind with their talent use words like "amazing" to describe me.
This is why I love just hanging out and jamming with other spinners. (That and fire.)
