badstarI just came back from Thanksgiving at the Grove. Good times. A nice little group of us...me, Caryn, Wil, Penelope, Sass, Jesse, Steph and Kessa.
It's amazing how many of us can actually cook in that teeny little kitchen at once. This is the second time that Steph and I have coked up foodage of different varieties side by side. This time Wil and Penelope added to the mix. I made pasta with sauteed red peppers, sundried tomato pesto and fresh mozzerella. I cooked with rosemary picked straight off one of the plants outside...that's the way to do it right. We also had turkey, mashed potatos, stuffing, pies, sweet potatos, the typical thanksgiving food.
I burned my fingers. Tiny little gas stove, and I wasn't thinking, grabbed hold of a pan handle that was near a flame. Uh, oops. I spent about 15 mnutes with my hand under cool water, took an advil...and then had to keep periodically putting my hand under the water sa I finished cooking. The pain would go away for a while and then come back And then during dinner, it came back and stayed- I ate a better part of my dinner with my fingers in a bowl of water, and of COURSE I burned fingers on my left hand. For a while it looked like there would be a large blister on one of my fingers, and possibly another but the one finger was fine pretty quickly. The other just hurt like hell on and off for about 2 hours...you know that kind of intense burning pain that feels like it's going right into the bone and spread from the tip of my finger down my hand. Then at one point, it just...went away. And it hasn't hurt since. This makes me happy. There is a patch of visibly damaged skin on that finger. It's just a little shiny, and feels slightly calloused but no blister.
I just spent twice as much space talking about my burned fingers than I did about Thanksgiving itself. I'm thankful that my fingers have stopped hurting.
Oh...and my cell phone has officially kicked it. I currently dont have ANY service because my month of service ran out also. I've been using a prepaid plan because I didn't feel like shopping for a new cntract plan though I'm considering doing it now. Just be aware that I have no service til I either pick up a new plan or pick up a new phone...I'll make it known when I decide, as well as what the new number is (if applicable...I hope not)
