Nov. 23rd, 2003 05:39 pmThe last week has gone far to do some odd things to my mind. Last weekend saw my last days at Rite Aid...The last 2 hours on Sunday being especially hellish since Evelyn decided to get in as much bitching at me as she could before I left...95% of it was about stuff that had nothing to do with me whatsoever. But enough about Rite Aid.
Monday I started training for the new job. One week down, 3 to go. So far I like it there. That very well may change with my first call from some schmoe saying that his internet is broken, or EXACTLY how many songs can he fit on a 20-gig ipod? But I've got a few weeks to go on that yet.
Other accomplishments for the week:
Read 5 books- on the commute alone. Count 'em...
The rest of the Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy Series...
1. Restaurant At The End Of The Universe
2. Life, The Universe And Everything
3. So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish
Young Zaphod Plays It Safe
4. Mostly Harmless
and
5. Answer My Prayer...I forget the author, Sid Hite I think?
Upon examining my book collection, I reaized that I have fewer unread books than I thought I had. I was certain that I had at least a crate full, but I've got maybe 15 books total.
I also managed to slice my finger. Sliced it good. On a piece of pasta of all things. Damned noodles.
And my nails chipped all to hell banging away on the keyboards all day. They're much shorter now...but I DID NOT BITE THEM. I'll probaby not let them grow past the tips of my nails again anyitme soon- they were all jut a little longer than that.
Had my first test at work Friday, had an hour to take it, but I finished in under 10 minutes. Scored 100%. So...I ended up with an almost-2-hour lunch break.
After work, got off the light rail downtown and decided it was too nice to go home yet...so I went out wandering around the Harbor for a few hours, and in Barnes and Noble. Wish I'd had my camera on me at the time. Had some time to think about some things.
Last Saturday at Rite Aid, towards the end of the night, a lady came in and we started talking, and she told me about the coven that she belongs to...they seem to have a special interest in healing activities. She suggested I contact the high priestess. I left a message for her yesterday, and talked to Sue (the one I was talking to in the first place) again yesterday.
Went over to Sara's last night, drank some wine and watched 2 DVD's- Frida, and Bowling For Columbine. Frida (biograhical movie about Frida Kahlo, the Mexican painter) was quite enjoyable, though I'm told that they did a lot to gloss her over. It didn't seem like a 2-hour movie. Bowling For Columbine was quite draining. Redundant at times, and long-winded. But it was well worth seeing. I never knew that Charlton Heston was such an asshole. I was also happy to have a kitty cat to pet for a while as Matisse decided to hop up on my lap for a good chunk of the movies.
Ripped 8 gigsof music to my work computer (Yes, I own the cd's, yes I'm allowed to do that.)
Interesting thing, spending the whole week with almost no time to think about anything but computers.
I feel exponentially geekier- did after the first few hours in the office. Scary.
Oh, and I uh...I want a G5. Plan to get one soon as i can save the money up...just the basic model really, it's far more computer than i'll ever need. It'll be a while yet but it's something to work for.
Seleep in a few hours, lather rinse repeat. Now I think I'll grab a shower.
