So...this is really um, fascinating.
Kirk Cameron (yeah, that Kirk Cameron) and some other people from his...church? minitry? organization? Something or other turns up at a Druidic Equinox ritual last weekend. And secretly recorded the proceedings...audio and video in a tiny hidden camera and microphone.
They then made a podcast using some of the audio from this recording. The link above is to the podcast, where they spend about 20 minutes playing clips and ridiculing the goings-on and the answers to their questions.
They comment on how they're secretly recording, and how at one point, they're afraid of being found out (in the recording, Mr. Cameron says that he was carrying a visible tape recorder and when someone commented that he didn't want to answer a question because he was being recorded, took the recorder out of his pocket and said that he was going to ask permission to record, but had not started to record.)
So...secretly recording...which is illegal in many areas. Carrying a decoy. Wow...so are there special exceptions to the ten commandments when you're uncovering the devil's work? I don't think so, and I think they know it too because hey, they're afraif of being discovered. Sign of guilt?
So after listening to this podcast, I decided to write a response which I sent to all of the contact emails on the website (http://www.wayofthemaster.com)
( Here's the response. I managed to keep it civil and polite. (Yes, I really used to go to Sunday School) )
The problem here is not that they disagree with some other religion. It's not that they think that it's wrong or that some particular views are wrong and that they're right. Or that they completely ridiculed what they saw....
It's that they came into a ritual, secretly recorded it- a huge lie of omission to begin with- but then had a decoy recorder to cover it up.
So...you've got these people scalp-deep in hypocracy, violating people's trust and privacy, lying to cover it up....until they go internet-wide with it.
