Sep. 28th, 2007 06:15 amSo in the last day or so, I suddenly got it in my mind that I had to go and try to look up one of my high school classmates. She wasn't at the reunion- I'd have fallen over of shock if she showed up, she hated our high school with a rather dramatic passion- though I could swear I thought I'd heard someone say she thought Mikayla was living somewhere in the Baltimore area. We weren't superclose friends, actually, we were only really vague acquaintances til towards the end of senior year, and then she was one of the folks that I did a lot of email-swapping with from college and we became pretty good friends for a while. Ironically, we lost touch when I moved back to the east coast. Anyway, she had a LOT of medical problems and was in a wheelchair from junior year of high school on, I forget exactly why. There's no date given, but the summer '06 edition of her college alumni newsletter has a small "in memory" blurb. (And lists her as being from Wilmongton, DE...so, no Baltimore)
Well, that's really sad...

"Ronks" is a town/village/crossroads/some non-specific geographical designation. Wikipedia describes it as "a small farming community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania," It's basically the name of a particular zipcoded area. One of those places that's really easy to forget that it even exists.
Oh, here's a better term for it- "unincorporated area"
But anyway...it's the name. "Ronks"- try saying it and taking it seriously. You can't. It sounds like a noise coming from a goose.
But I disgress.
They think Bush is going to visit Ronks. *snicker*

Sep. 28th, 2007 11:19 pmI'm covering another shift tonight...this time it's a short shift- only 8 hours! (Kinda funny when a "short shift" is a normal shift to most other people...)
On the other hand, there's nothing like having three different, fairly huge trains of thought collide all at once...and 8 hours of silence to be alone with them.
So please, do feel free to distract me. I'll be on AIM, yahoo and gmail chat.
