To Borrow A Phrase From Mea...
Feb. 25th, 2006 10:11 pm'Oly Sheet!
So y'all know I have a Conservative Mennonite roommate. A few of you know that way back in jr. high, I actually attended a Mennonite church off and on in my attempts to be Christian. The church was in my neighborhood, I could walk there so I did.
I've thought that Bridget seemed kinda familiar from somewhere. Chalked it up to what I'm lately dubbing as "Smalltimore paranoia". So we're talking tonight about religion, church, politics etc and she mentions the name of her church...Lyndon Mennonite Church. Sounds oddly familiar...so I ask if it's in Lancaster County...why yes it is...I couldn't remember the street name, but it's right off the Willow Street Pike, down and around the corner from Millcreek Road. I never would have thought to even consider that I might know Bridget from PA...I'm from Lancaster, she's from southern York County. Not very far apart, but I didnt know ANYONE from York County...or so I thought (back in the day, I didn't know she was from way over there)
Damn.
Yeah, so this is the same church I went to. Suddenly we were both remembering making this huge flag with a guy in our age group and getting up and waving it in front of the whole church. Don't remember what for, but we did. And all the people there..same people, still there (Very small church.)
Okay, it's official. Time for me to move to another country. And meet new people. Not that I object to knowing people from years ago...it's just crazy.
So of course, now we're talking about me going to church there with her sometime and she'll be all "Hey, y'know how I told you I had a Druid roommate? This is Renee...remember her?"
Am I that evil?

Date: 2006-02-27 04:02 pm (UTC)Welcome to the Pagan/Baltimore/Cons/Gamers problem of "It's a Small Universe".
(I'll tell you the story of how I met my hubby sometime. It's a grand case of Small Universe, considering that if I'd never dated Ashley's birth father, I'd've never hooked up with Gryff again!)
