badstarSo today on my way to work, I stopped at subway at Charles and Preston to find a line a mile long. No surprise...it was just before noon. So I deciuded to stop at Blimpie in the Symphony Towers instead...they're usually pretty slow, and they were on my way to the train. So I walk in andas I expected, it's empty, and there are three employees. They're all busy making wrap sandwiches....I guessed for a phoned in order or something.
So I give it a minute and wait for someone to finish the current sandwich and acknowledge me. After about a mintue and a half, one looks up, says "Hi" and starts another sandwich. Another minute or two later, a second employee does the same thing.
Now I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not in the habit of going into sandwich shops and standing there for the educational joy of observing the production of twenty wraps for a customer who is not in the store. I gave it another...about two minutes, and nothing. I should not have to say "Excuse me, I'd like to order a sandwich." When I'm the only non-employee standing in a sandwich shop. I had a train to catch to get to work and I wasn't going to wait on them, so I turned to leave. I got as far as the door and I heard "Excuse me Miss, I can take your order now."
I was hungry and didn't have time to go anywhere else. Went back to the counter and ordered my sandwich, not from the employee that called me back, but another one. Got a blank look as she tried to repeat it in broken English. Tried again, a little slower and pointing to things. Same blank look and language issue. Gave up and placed my order in Spanish...to which she reposnded by repeting the order back to me...in near-perfect English.
WTF?
And then I found AFTER I got to work, unwrapped my sandwich, ate half of it and got my keyboard all sticky that they actually pour honey on their honey-oat bread.
I can't win.
