Jobless...
May. 1st, 2006 11:40 amSo Friday was the last day.
Right now I'm making a list of places within the city where I'm interested in applying for a part time job, I'l go out and actually start going to those places this afternoon. Unless I get hired somewhere that I like on the spot (some retail stores are silly enough to do that you know..) I'll probably do the same thing up in Towson tomorrow, though Ideally i'd like to get a job within Baltimore. Downtown or at the Harbor would be nice...that way I can walk, which is good excercise of course, and not have to spend the money on public transportation. Figure I was spending about $15 a week getting to and from Hunt Valley, that's $60 a month that I can do a lot of other things with.
Grandma's Candles is hiring....that is going to be my first stop :-)
I'm also going to file for my unemployment...I'll probably do that later this evening when I get back from making my first rounds. The sooner I file, the sooner I can start getting some money that way.
(For those of you who are bound to ask: Yes, you can work part time on unemployment in MD. You can make up to $100/week without it affecting your unemployment payment. Anything more than that is just a reduction- so if I earn $110 dollars in a PT job, it takes $10 off my unemployment. This information came stright from the unemployment people in a face to face conversation. They also gave me an estimate on how much I should be eigble for per week based on what I was making...between that and a part time job, I'll probably be getting more than what I was making working full time. But I won't know the exact number til I file)
