So I started out to walk down to Grandma's Candles and then to the Harbor...(it's a gorgeous day out, by the way)

Made it as far as St Paul and Preston...crossing Preston, the light turned as I was halfway across the street, I went to jog the last couple of steps so as to avoid being run over, and I fet something n the back of my leg...um...shift? I'm not sure. I thought it was in the top of my left hamstring, but I think it might actually have been a tendon, but it hurt like hell.

I don't know how to describe the feeing except like this...and it's not even something that I don't think most people will get: I've had this problem for literally, as long as I can remember...every now and then I'll turn my head in JUST the wrong way where I can hear and feel something move wrongly in my neck, and it'll be intensely painful- literally feels like boiling water being poured down my neck and the shoulder opposite the direction in which I was turning my head. The super-intense part of the pain lasts no more than maybe 10 seconds, and then the same area feels mildly achy for a short time after- like 1-3 minutes and it goes away. It happened a lot more frequently when I was little, maybe once or twice a month when I was in early elementary school but became far less frequent over time, the last time I remember it happening was over a year ago.

But it felt like that in the back of my leg, except that after the boiling water feeling went away, I still fet a good deal of pain. It's isloated to a very narrow area that runs the length of the muscle, which leads me to think it's a tendon. he pain got worse for a short time as I tried to continue walking down the street...so I turned around and came home, but it started to decrease somewhat within a few minutes. It hurts *mildly* on a consistent basis at this point. It doesn't hurt just to put weight on it- I can stand still on my left foot and don't really feel any more discomfort than I feel when I put all of my weight on my right foot. It's the action of putting my foot down and lifing it to take a step as I walk. It's not so bad if I take short steps, but I tend to take rather long steps and if I try to walk naturaly, it hurts consideraby more. Walking p stairs so far hurts only very slightly more than walking on flat surface, though it seems to be better if I take stairs one at a time (you know, having both feet on the step before going to the next step instead of one foot each on aternating steps) and it's better if I lead with my right foot. It aso doesn't really hurt to sit on, but a bit of achiness seems to see into the top of my left calf muscle as I'm sitting.

I guess I'l give it the rest of the day and see what happens tomorrow...I just hope it goes away VERY quickly because the LAST thing I need right now is an obstacle to finding a job.

I guess what I could do for today is look up the phone numbers of places that I'm interested in applying to and giving them a call to see if they're actually hiring.

*grumble*

it's not even a probem during weight bearing...I can stand just on that foot, and it's no more uncomfortable than putting all my weight on my other foot.

don't know how I would elevate it though....thanks
