Just wondering if anyone's ever tried knitting lengthwise stripes?

On a completely unrelated note, I woke up around 5 this morning, it was all dark, but the moon was shining right into my window. It was really pretty.

Yes. Knit your item side to side where the sides are the top and bottom. Othwerwise you are going to be carrying floats and the item will end up very thick.

what do you mean by floats?

i figured out a way to make it work, knitting side to side against the stripes...I wanted to knit a lengthwise striped scarf and it was the first thing that came to mind. It's a little complicated, but after I got the first few rows done, it became a little easier, so I just have to make sure that four balls of yarn don't get tangled...but i've found a pretty good way of preventing that too I think.
