You know, other than specifically ADF forums, I'm seriously considering just abandoning all participation on web forums related to pagan practice. If I cite a dictionary definition of a word, suddently I'm being insulting, mean, hostile, disrespectful of others beliefs, intolerant, whatever.

Why is it that so many pagans are so hung up on stupid things like calling the three-fold law "karma" and "oh my god, you're not allowed to buy your own tarot deck" and "don's use glass dishes, they're too modern and therefore evil and wrong and...and..and..." and freaking out if someone dares NOT wear ren faire garb to ritual. WHY??????

It drives me crazy. if you challenge someone's statement of something being "historical fact", either you're mean and intolerant, or well it just doesn't matter because paganism is "anything you want it to be".

Hello people, GROW A SPINE and do a little bit of learning. Just for once, bother to know what you're talking about.

I feel the same way most of the time, which is why I usually run to my journal to get it out instead.

I've made one post in the ADF lists, and it was because I felt my lifestyle attacked and just had to defend myself. And suddenly that made ME the psycho bitch. Whatever. I'll keep my questions and comments private from now on. =D

Some Pagans seem to base much of their belief system as a backlash to Christianity: Christianity tells you what you have to believe so they're going to believe whatever they want to and you can't tell them that they're wrong even when they obviously are.

They're insane.

You'll get that. It's not uncommon, really, but yeah, ADF is more likely to accept, "Dude, that's not right, and telling you that isn't a reflection on your unsubstantiated personal gnosis at all."

meh, it bites that I should need to consider it. it's a topic that I'm obviously very interested in and I like to talk to people outside of my own little organization too...
