Preparing to foray into the world of internet sharing on Windows machines....this oughta be fun.

edit: Annnnnnd we have contact! both units running on the net without a router. Plus I've rearranged the floor, AND I'm attempting to troubleshoot a mac via instant messenger.

I'm connecting two computers to my DSL connection without a router.

connected one computer to the modem and to a hub, then connected the other computer to the hub...and used the network wizard

as long as you're utilizing two seperate nic's to accomplish this...good.

can't think of how that would be done otherwise, excpet maybe with a splitter, but that just sounds like trouble

couldn't do it unless you had to different nic's. Splitter wouldn't do shit.

you are correct missy. That little wizard is a lifesaver for those unused to computer connection sharing :) have fun now.

Two windows machines on the net without a router = VERY bad idea, for at least one of the windows machines.

Windows is nowhere near secure enough to be directly connected to the internet. Any chance you have $10 or so kicking around to buy a router?
