I think I've subconsciously boycotted any and all ribbon campaigns.

Including...and maybe especially? The Purple Ribbon for Pagan Awareness?

To all Wiccan and Pagans (Ribbon day)
Body: Body: Purple Ribbon Day

All practitioners of Earth religions, Wicca, Shamanism, Druidry etc,
are being encouraged to wear a purple ribbon as a way of promoting
religious tolerance and to potentially raise awareness: On
Sept. 21st to 22nd all Witches are going to wear little purple
ribbons so everyone will know Who Else is a witch/wiccan/
pagan/... . But no one can do this if they don't know about it, so
pass the word along! This message goes to all Witches, Wiccans,
Pagans from all sorts of traditions. We can make a day for
Ourselves!! Actually, two days!!! You can buy a purple ribbon
anywhere, Dollar store, wal-mart, shoppers drug mart,
anywhere...Wear it in your Hair, or pin it up to your shirt. Make it
public!!!

Frankly, I'm sick of "tolerance". I understand the motive behind the idea, but I don't want to be tolerated.

I've also seen this advertized somewhere as "All pagans wear purple ribbons so we can identify each other and no one else knows what the ribbon is for!!!" Wish I could find that again.

Any more or less than any other subgroup of the human race? People don't get along all the time and there are divisions. The same is going to apply to any group of people somehow, at some time. I don't think pagans are any more divided than Christians...or the Democratic party, or Citizens of the state of Massachusetts, or...or...or...

I could take this a little more seriously if the idea was general religious acceptance (or tolerance if the word really must be used) but by making up a special pagan religious tolerance campaign, it says to me "hey, we deserve a little more religious tolerance than everyone else!"

and I just don't see ribbon campaigns as a sign of solidarity.if nothing else because every ribbon is being used by a zillion other organizations that it could mean a zillion other things. how about the chartreuse ginhgam ribbon campaign for granny smith apple awareness? :-P

when you say "divided"...I don't think merely differing opinions or beliefs....I think fighting/arguing/various unpleasantries.

I don't dispute that pagan religions are in the minority. But I don't think there's any more division than there are in any other groups of people when you step back and look at the big picture.

Also, I am perfectly chilled and rational :-D (Well, chilled and as rational as I ever am...which I think is reasonably so)
