Tonight, the story of Mabon was told that the Grove's um, Mabon ritual :-) (For those not familiar, Mabon is the Divine Child of the Welsh Divine Mother, Modron who was abducted when he was only three days old and imprisoned in Anwyn Tower....this all figures into the Arthurian mythology and a much larger, more complicated story.)

Last year at Mabon, we honored Greek deities. I had just joined the Grove at the time, so I've officially been a membmer for a year.

Many folks know that I am a follower of the Greek pantheon, but most people don't know that my interest in mythology and pagan religions and whatnot actually first came by way of Welsh mythology. (Lately, I've amused several people by telling them that the little I know of pronouncing things in the Welsh language comes from reading Susan Cooper's Dark Is Rising books..in The Grey King, there's a part where Bran, who is a Welsh boy, is trying to teach Will, an English boy how to pronounce Welsh words and names. They're great books, I highly recommend them.)

I just found it to be an interesting circle of things.

congratulations on one year! :)

I also loved Susan Cooper when I was a child. One of my happiest adult moments was finally finding that whole series in one volume. I was quite pleased as I had read library copies as a kid and didn't own any of her books. :) Thank you for reminding me of that happy memory.
