One of *those* days.

Wake up late as always, but get to the train stop in plenty of time. Now, I know that the train hasn't gone early because I can see the train track from about a block away as I'm approaching, and I first came into view of the tracks about 10 minutes before it's due. A train when by just as I get close enough to read the sign. Timonium. I need Hunt Valley. It usually gets there about 738 or 739. 739 passes....740....745...750...Four southbound trains go by, no northbound trains. I call them MTA, wait on hold. Finally talk to someone. There's been nothing reported. She knows nothing. Then, "Oh I just now got this. Trains are delayed 20-30 minutes due to a signal problem at Gilroy. Fuck. Immediately after that, the bottle of grapefruit juice in my hand decides to comit suicide. falls to the ground and explodes. And I was REALLY wanting some grapefruit juice just then too.

Hung up, called home. Jesse was awake, but wouldn't be leaving for about half an hour. Let him know what was going on, and that I didn't even know if the trains would be running all the way to Gilroy because that's where the problem was. Said he'd pick me up when he left. Well, no sooner did I hang up than the train came along. Marked for Hunt Valley. Crowded as hell. But I got to work less than 20 minutes late...and one of my supervisors was on the same train. So I was ok.

Then around lunchtime I got a call from Nicole. The guy was at the house to check out our washing machine. Buuuuuut there was a slight glitch in that the east sde of our block had no power. Without power, he couldn't do much.

Long series of phone calls all day. Steph had come up to the office with Jesse and was hanging out in the break room til Jess was off. Nicole was home with the cats, fielding my phone calls and monitoring the situation. When she called me, I'd asked her to call BGE and report it, though she said that someone else had said that they'd called. I asked her to call as well because I don't trust the neighbors. Gave her what I thought was the number since she couldn't look it up on he net, and hell if I know where the phone book is. Called back on my lunch and found out that I'd given her the wrong number, still no electric so I called BGE myself. BGE tels me that no one had reported that one side of an entire block was missing electric. So around 3pm, the estimated fix time was 6pm. At 6 it still wasn't fixed...time moved back to 9. Nicole came up to Hunt Valley and we all went over to Amer's Cafe for Rick and Rhi's going away shindig. They're moving to New Mexico. As of last night. So it was fun and merriment and all that jazz, and sadness of seeing friends go off into the wild blue yonder.

So on the way home, I call BGE, find out that the electric is back on and yell loud enough that y'all up in New York may have heard me.

Get home, lights are on and all that fun stuff. Dominic promptly informs me that the modem up and kicked it after he hopped on the internet. SO I have to call tech support. Oh yeah and be on hold for 45 minutes. I needed to go to bed, so I was actually laying in bed with my phone beside me waiting for someone to pick up. Finally I talk to Julie who is so nice and eager to be helpful. I inform her that I need a new modem. She wants to troubleshoot. I inform her that it's dead, I can't do that. Dead, she asks? Define "dead". I tell her dead as in no lights when I plug into the wall. Told her I tried more than one power outlet in which other things are currently running. She asks if I tried another phone jack. Why in the hell would I do that if there's no power?? I was in no mood to argue, told her that I had trekked down to the first floor and done that. Thirty seconds later she informed me that a new modem whould ship today.

I go to sleep. I sleep well. I wake up all warm under my blankets, but freezing as soon as I take them off. Cold air blasting from my vent, which is on the opposite end of the room, but in direct line with my bed. I get dressed, quickly but don't have time to deal. Closed my vent and figured that someone had just bumped the thermostat or flipped the heat/air switch to the wrong side or something. didn't have time to deal, left for work. No late train today, got in on time and all, everything was great, just great. Til about an hour and a half after I got there. Steph called. The power was out. Again. BGE was working on it. Apparently yesterday when we thought that someone doing construction had hit a line, it was actually someone going into the school behind our house and severing multiple lines, frying a transformer. They replaced that one but didn't check the others connected to it. The next one in line was found smoking this morning, so they had to shut it off and replace it. Several phone calls back to the house later we still don't have power. On the last call, Nicole told me that she thought Steph said she heard someone say that they now think it may be an underground issue. Sweet gods what the HELL is going on?

I just want to go to sleep and wake up next Friday or something.

Oh well, they gave us cookies at work today. That's gotta be good for something, right?

So as soon as we have power again, we call Cullen to see about the heating unit. It might just be that somehting needs to be reset.

And there is another washer repair appointment for Friday.
