Sep. 12th, 2007 11:30 pmI received a shipment of some recycled silk yarn on Monday. I hadn't ordered any in a while, so I was quite tickled to have some again.
Last night on the train on my way to work, someone hopped on, realized she was on the wrong train and got off at the next stop. Before she did, she asked if I ever sold anything that I made (I wasn't working on anything, but rolling a skein of yarn into a ball)...I said that I hadn't. She mentioned the People's Art Collective at the Waverly Farmer's market, told me to email her if I was interested in doing such a thing, gave me her address and hopped off the train.
This is all a pretty impressive conversation considering that she hopped on at Mount Washington and off at Falls Road which, for anyone familiar with the light rail in Baltimore, are all of about six feet apart.
Yet another non-coincidence this week, perhaps? I've emailed her and she's going to send me info about the collective.
Is anyone familiar with the People's Art Collective?

Date: 2007-09-14 01:55 am (UTC)The seller that I got this batch from uses the name wind-horse, and sells it in 10-skein packs for $25 plus shipping...and it's gotta be the best quality stuff that I've seen. It's tightly-spun, doesn't fall apart, shiny (instead of fuzzy...fuzzy is warmer, but shiny is prettier :-) and most of it is minimally hairy, as far as recycled silk goes...and very uniform in thickness for the most part.
This seller is another one that I've bought from in the past...also quite good, but not quite as spectacular as the other one. http://stores.ebay.com/Yarn-House-a-division-of-Yarn-Place
