I Have A New Goal In Life!

badstarBack in high school, we learned in chemistry class about a school out in CA that teaches neon sign fabrication....I always thought it sounded like a really cool idea. And I like neon signs. They rock.
Welllllll....on a lark yesterday, I decided to look this up and see what info I could find....and lo! There is a place here in Baltimore that teaches just such a thing. Like 3 1/2 miles from here. Attempting to access some of the info on the website yesterday made the computer unhappy...so I gave them a call this morning and found this out...
...it's a 6-week program, 8 hours a day, costs a little over $4000.
...program is state-approved and results in the student being competent to work in neon sign fabrication for their self or someone else.
...they also offer weekend workshops. Which cost much less...and you get to make a working light.
...cost of said workshops can be applied to the ~$4000 for the professional program.
I'm thinking that maybe a little later, maybe towards the end of the summer or something, I might seriouly consider doing one of those workshops. That would go far in helping me decide if this is something that I'd seriously like to consider pursuing, or if it just *sounds* like an unbelieveably cool idea.
If I actually decide to do that....chances are I'd have to put off Burning Man for yet another year.
In any case, I am truly jazzed about the idea. And they're sending me info in the mail.
