Do I want to go to the WABA-PLC conference this year?
I didn't have a horrible time last year. It was completely different than it was made out to be, but there were some interesting moments. It's being held in Linthicum this year instead of Northern VA.
Last year, almost all that was talked about revolved around the VA pentacle issue. The website doesn't say what's on the schedule for this year, but since the pentacle's been approved, perhaps they'll be moving on to another issue.
That is, unless they're stuck on getting the Thor's Hammer and the Awen approved. Despite the fact that, so far as I know, no requests have even been filed on behalf of fallen soldiers or veterans to have been denied.
Yeah, I think that a symbol should be able to be requested at any time instead of making it fall to the responsibility of a soldier's or veteran's family who has lost their loved one and add one more thing to all the paperwork and headache they have to deal with. BUT I've not seen anyone protesting that regulation, and so long as it's being applied fairly (and when the pentacle was approved, it came with orders to NOT delay any other new requests), the only thing that can legitimately be protested is the regulation itself.
Hmmmm....maybe that would be a good reason to go, if that's on the agenda... "Guys, uh, why are you protesting this as if it's been denied when it hasn't? Let's not be demanding special treatment, k?"
By the way, I'm still on the lookout for a case of a request for either of those symbols being applied for *within the regulations* and denied. I've been looking for this for nearly a year now. If anyone knows of any, please do let me know so I can stop bitching from this angle.
