badstar*sigh* I just talked to my mom. She's been calling me all weekend, I thought she was calling me to return a silly message that I left her on Friday night...but she wasn't calling for that.
She was calling to let me know that Mama Edna died.
Mama Edna is Mike's grandmother, so basically, a distant step relative, but she was the sweetest little old lady you could ever hope to meet. She had a really hard North Carolina accent and always wore little sparkly barrettes in her hair.
From what my mom told me, it was a switch in some medication that was just too much for her system to take, and she just shut down. She was in her nineties and I knew she wasn't really in the best of health but I didn't realize she was that frail. She was in PA at Christmas and didn't seem to be doing badly. The funeral is tomorrow.
I will miss her.
