Yesterday when I was up in Hampden for my appointment, I stopped at the Giant grocery store which is in the same building...they had blackberries on sale for 99 cents...I took several looks at the sign to make sure I was reading correctly- I'm used to paying four or five dollars for the same sized container.
But no, I read right. I grabbed four packages. I was vaguely afraid that they wouldn't be very good, despite the fact that they looked fine, but as soon as I popped one in my mouth when I got to work, I was very happy to find out that they taste even better than the ones I usually get elsewhere. And they're huge- some of them are nearly the size of ping-pong balls. I ate an entire container last night, took two of them home today where Gavin devoured most of one this evening (wouldn't be surprised if the other was gone when I got some in the morning) and I am currently three berries shy of having lain waste to the fourth.
Er wait...nevermind the three berries shy bit.
I do love me some blackberries.
It's a little out of the way, but I'm seriously thinking about doing some more of my regular grocery shopping up there- at least occasionally. They sell the Red Sauce Of Awesomeness (Thai Kitchens' Sweet Red Chilli Sauce) and their prices on a good bit of produce and other things are better than Superfresh or Safeway.

Fresh blackberry ice cream from a real old style New England ice cream stand is the best.
