with great sadness, I must say that I just finished reading Kushiel's Mercy.

Really, sad. Because the book just isn't long enough. None of them are.

Now I settle in massive amounts of withdraw before the next Kushiel trilogy starts. *Sigh*

It was good. Really good.

For anyone that's interested...if you liked Kushiel's Avatar, you should like this one. It isn't as dark and disturbing- there's no Markhagir-type character, but it's got many of the same elements otherwise, which aren't *quite* as much present in any of the other books, except to a certain extent in Kushiel's Justice, though everything is much more personal to Imriel in Kushiel's Justice, whereas in the other two, the elements are much more epic and far-reaching.

Ah...and Alais is somewhat important in this one, a bit more than a supporting character but I think she could have had much more part in it. Her smaller part in previous books makes sense, but I think she's underutilized in this one, especially with what she ends up doing. There could have been more of the other Shahrizais...definitely not enough Mavros. He amuses me.

Quick...someone else read it so we can pick it apart together!!!

Okay, guess it's time to get back to reading Iron Angel, which I bought weeks ago, but only started reading the other day, and am liking even more so far than Scar Night.

I now know a lot more about the book than I would have liked before I started it.

Sure, you didn't give away any plot specifics, but the relative significance of characters to the books, worse yet with a teaser like "especially what she ends up doing", was enough that I found myself wishing that I had the option of avoiding it.
