Did some shopping today, I consider it to be a pretty good success.

I needed new sneakers, the ones I have have really thin soles that are starting to wear down, and I need some nice thick-soled, comfortable sneakers. At Towson Town Center, stopped in Lady Footlocker, not really expecting to find anyhitng I liked for a reasonable price, but I found a pair of Adidas running shoes with a nice thick sole and rugged tread, in a color combination that I love. Tried them on, felt a little too small at first, but they didn't have them a size larger yet. (and no one carries shoes in women's 10 1/2) I really liked them, and it was extremely odd that a 10 should not fit me since most of the shoes I'm wearing are 9 1/2 so I put them back on, relaced them and pulled them tighter. They fit so much better and were so comfortable that I wore them out of the store. (I can usually tell if a shoe fits me without having to relace them...it's generally only after determining that a shoe fits that I bother to relace and make sure that the finer points of the fit are as they should be.) Also got a pack of socks- I needed new socks, they just vanish on me all the time.

Went back to Lane Bryant to pick up a second pair of jeans. Yes, after all that. This time, we came up with a plan. Gavin and I were sitting outside the store with maps, charts, laser pointers and walkie-talkies plotting out our strategy. I made her memorize the size, length and cut of the jeans so that at least one of us would have a shot of making a grab for them, and that if they wouldn't let me get my own jeans, I would leave and not buy there again. We literally dashed into the store and made a beeline for the jeans wall, found hat I needed quickly. Amazingly enough, no one assaulted us this time demanding that we let them get the jeans for me. I was floored when, upon being asked if we needed any help and responded with "No, I have what I'm looking for, thanks!" The response was "Okay, let me know if you need anything." and we were left in peace. Oh glory day, oh halleluja! So I now have one more pair of jeans, with no headache. What's more, before I left, I decided to tell the cashier about my prior frustrations. This cashier turned out to be the store manager. She had only started working for the company about the time they were first introducing the new line of jeans and told me a little bit about how the corporate office had gone ridiculously overboard with training people on how to market the jeans, how to fit people and all that fun crap, and she agreed that it was ridiculous, and she knew that it was very flawed. Unfortunately, as far as I recall, she wasn't in the store either of the previous times we had been there, I didn't recognize her. In the end, I was happy that I decided to say something, and felt like I had actually been paid some attention to, even if she can't go back and make them all be sane.

We now have a stuffed turkey (as in a stuffed toy animal, not a ready to cook poultry carcass) in the house, he's going to sit on top of our computer monitor and keep the stuffed jellyfish and dragon company. Said stuffed turkey has been dubbed "Dinner"...Gavin and I are quite amused with ourselves.

And I am happy because I finally have the ringtone that I've wanted on my phone for about two years now, which has been available but never for *my* phone...my phone now rings to the tune of Tchaikovsky's Chinese Dance form The Nutcracker. Woohoo! (I've had the Russian Dance for a while...I like that one almost as much, but I really love the Chinese dance. My favorite part of Disney's Fantasia is the mushrooms dancing to that.)

I am now going to attempt to sleep again so that I can get up at a reasonable time and do what must be done prior to departing for Colorado tomorrow.
