Me, to a customer on the line... "I'm sorry sir, I'm not aware of the potential interference that dead mafia victims may pose to your wireless networking capabilities."

After asking what stood between his computer and wireless router, the guy rattled off several things...an aquarium, walls, assorted household miscilania and then he said "My building's like, old. I'm pretty sure there are dead mafia guys in the walls."

Whacked organized crime members placed horizontally or vertically in the walls would only be likely to cause interference between 130 and 197 MHz. In order to cause interference on wireless frequencies, they would need to be cut into 5 inch high chunks, and preferably wrapped in aluminum foil.

Hah, because those are the radio waves near the height of a typical person. That's simplifying it a little bit, but that's what I remember from radio safety.

In other news: technical support personnell from Apple Computer discovered the body of Jimmy Hoffa today. He had been cut into 5 inch high chunks, wrapped in aluminum foil, and placed in the walls of an apartment complex in South Toejam, NJ. Technicians made the find while trying to discover the cause of poor WiFi coverage in a customer's apartment...
