May. 25th, 2005 12:20 pmBeen dealing with a tension headache since Monday that meanders in and out of migraine territory. Couldn't go to work Monday....tried to get a doctor's appointment...none available...have to call back Tuesday morning and try...try Tuesday, none available. Headache not gone. Try this morning...same issue.
The doctor's office I've been going to takes appointments for the same day only. so how is it that if I call up at exactly the time they open, there are no appointments available...3 days in a row? Today I finally get a straight answer (This is, after being put on hold, transferred to 8 different people who get pissed off that Ive been transferred to them and then my phone dies while I'm asked to hold for "one minute" that turns into half an hour...) So I call back and tell the first person that I speak to that I've been trying for 3 days to get an appointment. She tells me that "everyone" is trying to get an appointment, so they've been bending the rules and making advanced appointments...nothing available til next Wednesday. Cute. WHY couldn't someone tell me this much on Monday instead of "I'm sorry, please call back tomorrow."??????
Whoever it was that I spoke to suggested going to an emergency room. (Where I'd be charged $500) This isn't an emergency. I know it's tension because it goes away when heat is applied. I'm going to go to the GBMC urgent care place. I may very well have to sit all day. I'd just better be able to get a work excuse.
Through no one's fault but my own, I missed the insurance enrollment back when I was first eligible at work. I've picked it up now that they offered it again, but it hasn't kicked in yet.
I guess this means I'll be looking for a new doctor. Their system is insane. I've been going to Mercy Family health...the doctors that I've seen there have been great, once I get through the red tape. But they have me in the system as being the patient of a doctor that I've never even met. WTF?
Okay..I'm outta here.
