On Sunday, Deirdre called a last minute gathering for last night for some prayer/meditation in memorial and healing. We talked briefly about the events of five years ago and the moved on to other things. Most of our focus turned out to be on the immediate community and things going on right now, as well as the state of the world at large. We took turns lighting candles and talking about those that need our concern now, people who are sick, or having family problems or any number of thigns, and we had some new people in our midst, who it turned out needed to talk about some things. So we did that. It was a good evening, and I love sitting out in the sanctuary in the dark with only the torch and candle light. I normally woouldn't go to this sort of thing, but I felt I should for some reason, and I'm glad I did.

[livejournal.com profile] meapet- do you still have that recepie for the irish cream cake kicking around? If so...can I get it?

One thing that I'm glad for with cooler weather...mosquitos will be gone soon (not soon enough) and I can use my tea tree oil soap as soap and not as bug bite itch relief. But I really wish the sun would coem back out. This Grey September thing is starting to get on my nerves.

edit: about an hour after I posted this, the sky cleared up and it's all nice and sunny and just a little hazy out. I like it when I want the weather to do something and it cooperates...)

Food.

For the next three weekends, I need to cook something to take to various events...two events on the last weekend.

I don't know what I'm going to make.
There is a popular demand that I make brownies at the grove. I'll probably do this for the last weekend since it's a lot easier to just divide up a huge batch of brownies than it is to cook up two separate things, and I can do it a day or two before...and the brownies just get better after they've had a day or two to sit.

But what about this weekend and next weekend?

I'm *thinking* for this weekend, chicken and shrimp fried rice with lots of orange and ginger, and this amazing Irish Cream cake for Mabon.

For once, I'm thinking I'm going to not do pasta. Even though pasta dishes are easy, you can do pretty much ANYTHING with them, it's easy to make meat-eaters and vegetarian or even vegan-friendly variations (divide into two dishes, put the meat in one dish, don't put the meat in the other dish) and who doesn't like pasta? (Except for Bridget, but she's weird like that) but I don't want to be known as "that chick that makes great pasta and brownies and that's about it".
