I'm watching The Double Life Of Veronique here at work. God, this movie is so beautiful. And the dancing marionette looks disturbingly alive and real, despite the puppeteer's hands being right there and not even attempting to hide. I didn't realize there was an alternate ending on the Criterion Collection dvd til I was looking at wikipedia earlier tonight.

Well, I've been thinking for a while, I have some stuff that I need to try to figure out religiously. It's getting to be close to a year now since things started breaking down and gtoig crazy(er). I was saying last week that I'd love to just take a week off work to spend some serious time doing that, but I need to bank my time off for the holidays or I won't have enough time off to do the stuff I want to do.

But I do still have those pesky four-day weekends every week (I know, I know, woe is Fuego, oh to have such problems.) So I thought I'd take one of those and do that, basically, get all my running around done early Friday and from there til Monday afternoon, leave the apartment only when absolutely necessary, or if doing something related to religion. Well, this weekend is out. Grove Equinox ritual. Next weekend is out...Becca's wedding. The first weekend in October sounded like a good idea, nothing planned then.

Then I got a message from my friend Jon last night. One of my friends from high school and the only one that it seems I'm in contact with in the last eight months or so. I haven't seen him since before I moved to Baltimore. He's going to be traveling through town that weekend, wants to know if he can crash and we can get together. Am I going to turn that down? Of course I'm not.

So he's supposed to roll in sometime Sunday and stay til Monday afternoon. Should be fun. I can do religious stuff on Friday and Saturday, and there's always the following weekend.

With the exception of an occasional, actual, real, legitimately torn or chipped nail, no pieces of my fingernails have been removes for some time now. I'm not even sure how long it's been anymore.

They're not very long, none of them are past my fingertips (and i don't intend to let them get very long) but they're not bitten. And I didn't even paint them until last night. (Usually I have to paint them to go any amount of time without biting).

I wrote this one today for the upcoming grove ritual this weekend.

Sing sweet-voiced Muse of the owl-eyed goddess,
Most skilled weaver of splendid tapestries,
Favored daughter of Zeus, you triumphed over Poseidon
to hold the city of Athens and the right to its name.
Your gift of olive trees to mankind is unmatched,
its uses countless.
Goddess of strength, savior, defender,
Sharp-eyed keeper of the city
Under your protection, citizens flourish
and warriors are victorious in battle.
Hail to Athena, glorious goddess!
I will remember you and another song as well.

Wrote this invocation today, also for the grove ritual, for Dionysus...I think it's finished.

Lord of two vines who destroys and regenerates,
come to us.
God of the grape, come to us.
God of the ivy, come to us.
Thrice-born son of Zeus
Who knows Olympus and Earth and the underworld,
come to us.
As slowly through time, the ivy crumbles walls and foundations,
come to us
As quickly as the aged nectar of your abundant grapes
breaks down inhibitions and loosens tongues,
come to us.
Bearing your torches, come to us.
Protector of the ways, come to us.
Dionysus, come to us.

I called up the Baltimore Tattoo Museum today hoping to talk to the same guy that did my previous work about a new design...now found out that he only works Monday-Thursday, which I can't do.

Guess I'm going to have to go down there and check out some other portfolios.

To anyone on my list who's had work done at the Tattoo Museum, other than Dave Sobel (he's hte artist I was trying to get ahold of) who do you recommend there? Have any pictures of work? Yeah, like I said, I plan to check out portfolios and all that, but I'd like to hear from people I know too.
