Theologians say the ancient account could be misinterpreted

So I'm curious, does anyone have an opinion on the upcoming publication? I think it will be very interesting to read.

Nyaaa, indeeeeeed.

I love how the folks at the Vatican are ever so quick to dismiss. (As well they should be.) The sheer notion of "apocrypha" and "canon" just makes my gut roll with laughter.

This is definitely on my wishlist of things to read.

Looks interesting. Definitely worth a read, usually anything that makes theologians cringe does. I'm interested in looking at parts of the Bible through different lenses, so it should be a good character study at least. :)

i take everything in the bible with a grain of salt because of all of the editing over the years and the fact that so many texts were left out. i'm interested in reading this one.

Yeah, more Apochrypha! I'm still plowing through my collections (which includes things like the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of
Mary Magdaline. . .)

Of course, it takes longer, due to the fact that I have several non-fiction and fiction books going at once . . .

Judas Iscariot...

There are many different accounts of Judas. Quick historical note: "Iscari" - means long knife, and these were used to attack Roman tax collectors. Judas (and apparently his father as well) was a noted Jewish revolutionary at the time. (All of the above from a History Channel showing on the item, and not the awful TV movie called "Judas", whose puerile dialogue has led me to retitle the film "Dude, where's my Jesus?" .. but I digress) It would not surprise me if there were several different views on his life depending on the source. Jesus was the type to forgive. In fact, it may be that Judas was simply carrying out the will of God (I am not trying to promote any religion, just offering a metaphysical context). The Iscari were violent revolutionaries - it may be that Jesus was trying to bring that mvement into his more peaceful nature. Jesus of Nazareth was not unaware of political realities - we'd be foolish to believe that he did everything in a solely religious context - and if he recognized he had a political influence, albeit peaceful, he would likely try to bring someone in like Judas - to encourage peace rather than violence in Judas' former movement. If he was a betrayer as is stated in the Bible, what context was it in?

That book is certainly on the potential reading list, though admittedly, I'm behind on fulfilling that. I look forward to seeing if I can't get it from the library.
