SO. I *think* I'm getting the job at Yankee candle down at the harbor. I had an interview with the assistant manager, but it was more "What did you do before this, what did you do before that? Why are you going from computer work to wanting to work part time retail? You have retail experience? You're familiar with our products? This is what we pay to start. Okay, we're getting a new computer sytem in and we all have to learn that before we can start a new person and the hours that we have are daytime, mostly weekday. We have night people are you okay with that?"

I was there for a whole five minutes. But she seemed to be talking in terms of hiring, and not not hiring, or not we have other interviews, or we'll see what happens or...otherwise unplesant things. She's going to give me a call Friday morning. I didnt even fil out an aplication- they just have these little cards that you put your name, address, phone number and availability.

I also have an interview Friday afternoon for Starbucks, but if YC hires me, I'm going to take that. I wouldn't mind doing the Starbucks thing, but their schedules are pretty much either in at 6 AM or 1-close. And you can't have more than to earrings in each ear, theres no way around that. If YC doesn't offer me a job and Starbucks does, I'll take it...but I really don't want to be pulling my earrings out every day. I have 15 of them for crying out loud. Plus, some of the holes- despite the fact that the most recent one is 4 or 5 years old- still start closing up literaly within an hour or two of the earring being removed. But...if it happens, I won't turn down a job on account of earrings. (but I would keep looking for something else on account of that sort of schedule.)

Yah, but you only have to work 20 hours a week to get health insurance at Starbucks!

I'm not sure how relevant it is, but I used to always put clear plastic plugs in my holes when I went for interviews and such. Sure, it's a pain in the ass, but you can more or less leave them in :-/

yah know, I asked about that and she said, no you just can't have anythign in the extraneous earholes and that they're superstrict about that...that and visible tattoos. Meh. I don't have any visible tattoos.

Thanks for the suggestion though
