Jul. 14th, 2006 10:11 pmRight about now, I could go for a big, heaping bowl of butter pecan with gobs of caramel sauce...oh, what's this? There's just such a bow here on my desk, how convenient.
Oh God, it's been one of those days. I wasn't even awake two hours and it was one of those days. Starting with not being able to sleep last night til the wee hours of the morning...and then having to get up early because Cullen was coming over to see what sort of work needs to be done on the house before we renew the lease. He's gonna change the locks and do some other work next week. After he left, Steph wanted to take a run to Grandma's Candles so off we went. Only got a block down the street when I realized Iwe had wanted to go around the corner to St Paul and hop the 3 bus down, and Steph remembered leaving candles burning in the house. So we headed back, and crossing the street below our house, Steph noticed a guy walking across the other way carrying a wooden wishing well...Steph and Jesse's wishing well.
(Oh, let me back up. My grill was stolen yesterday. It was here in the early afternoon, Steph was outside and out a few things on top if it. Later I went to the grocery store and grabbed some steaks for dinner, Jesse came home and we were talking about grilling them up....he went outside and came back in sayting the grill wasn't there. Excuse me? The grill was gone, the gate was open, nothing else was missing Yesterday started out as a great day, but it went downhill fast for that and other reasons that I prefer not to dicscuss on this forum.)
So...guy with wishing well...Steph went to him and demanded where it came from...he said in the alley behind the houses on the block. She asked again, he gave the same answer. She said it was hers and demanded that he put it down. I called the police, the dude made tracks. Got into the house, out the back door and Steph found her bird feeder smashed. Not fallen off it's table, but very obviously purposefully smashed to pieces. And the gate was open. The lock was perfectly intact, so the guy either climbed the fence or the phone pole next to it, and simply let himself out the gate by uinlocking it from the inside.
Police officer came and filed a report. I must say, this was one of the best police officers I've ever had the displeasure to need to deal with. He was really nice, and told us that if we saw the guy again, we could run him down with a truck and he'd write the incident up as an accident...lol
Called Cullen to let him know about it and for whatever it's worth, he changed the gate lock today. Everything else will be taken care of next week.
After that, we ditched the idea of going to Grandma's Candles, and instead went straight to
pagandenma's house- we were going to go there after Grandma's anyway)We went out for lunch in White Marsh, then went to the new Karma store in White Marsh Mall, and then to Staples for business card blanks. Came back to Kat's and Steph and I both made eh "business" cards...I can't really call them that because neither of us are operating a business at the moment, but what else do you call them? I put my name, energy work and the types I do, and a line about the Hellenic pagan study group on mine. Steph made hers specifically for contact for pagan pride day. I wanted to print mine in dark brown or burgundy, but the color toner on Kat's printer wasn't working the best (i only realized later that i should have fiddled with the settings...it just never occured to me) but they still look nice printed in black on an ivory, brick red and sort of gold-ish printed card with some scroll pattern in one corner. We also had pizza. The we came home and here I am. I need to read somethign of Steph's that I've been meaning to do for about a week now and then I'm going to bed. *sigh*
Tomorrow I must do dishes and we're going up to the Jo-Ann fabrics superstore on Perring Parkway to look for material for cloaks. While we're there I'll stop at the Staples there and look for a business card holder.
