Frankly, if you guys get your share of the money in, I think the landlord should go after Keith for you. It's not your job to police the roomie - it's his.
In the meantime, if I hear of people looking for a place, I'll point them your way . . .
assuming we get the money to cover his share by Friday, we have two weeks to get a new, paying roommate. if that happens, they're going straight on the lease.
All humor aside, tell him you'll look to legal action if he doesn't pony up. It's tough to squeeze a roomie who's not lease for rent, *but* there are oral contracts law that can apply (depending on state - I don't presume to know Maryland's laws)
