...I'd like to tell my mom some bad news and have her say somehtign like "I'm sorry honey, that really sucks."

Instead of "Well you know, somewhere in all this there is a reason and a lesson in life to be learned, maybe this is going on because blah blah blah blah yakkity schmakkity...."

I told her this, and she thought it was hilarious. *Sigh* I can't win.

It's worst when you get both, one on the heels of the other. Because the "that sucks" is utterly negated by "everything happens for a reason".
