Does anyone know of a reasonably-active, fanfic-free fantasy or fantasy/sci-fi community here on LJ?

I'll be more constructive. Generally sf&f communities are divided by fandom. A good many of the fandom communities actually talk about the shows a significant amount, with maybe the occasional fic you don't have to read if you don't want to. They might not be fic-free, but they wouldn't be fic only.

I imagine there's a general scifi group if you do a search, but I wonder exactly if what they'd talk about would be your thing. That's overly broad.

I suggest you start with an author you like and look for that.

There are plenty of sci-fi/fantasy communities, some general ones even that I've found. But I have zero interest in having my friends page full of fanfics. And I wanted something more broad-based than fandom-specific.

For whatever it's worth, I just created my own community.
