(no subject)

Between the grove and assorted conversations with Gavin lately, it seems that Odin has stuck somewhat in my brain in a mostly random and pointless way. I had several dreams last night, and the only one of which I actually remember involved sitting around at the grove and a bunch of people talking about Odin without actually saying anything... "I like Odin." "Odin is cool." "We should do more Odin rituals." "I like Odin too." "I read a book about Odin once."

I sometimes have the most boring dreams (Have to balance out the more uh...interesting ones, I guess. Not that I think I'd want to have more interesting dreams of Odin (or any other deity really, at this point. I think I've got my hands full as it is.)

It's a standing joke that my battlecry would be "Blood for Odin!", should there ever come a time in which I would need to use a battlecry.

Heh. Take my word for it: once you invite the Norse crowd in (and I mean the deities, not their human followers), life becomes very interesting, especially when The Old Man is involved. If any of that lot are coming up in your dreams -- even in a second hand kind of way -- someone is likely to have his eye on you already. Be polite, be respectful, but don't be afraid to say no. They respect those who stand up to them for good reason. On the other hand -- and I speak very much from experience here -- involvement with the Northern Pantheons can be a wonderful wild ride full of delights.

I'm not entirely unfamiliar with the Norse, though my personal experience has come mostly by way of Heimdall and Freyja...I won't completely disregard what you've said, but I'm not immediately taking it to mean that anyone up there is looking at me. Anything is possible but I honestly don't *think* that it's the case...it would have never occurred to me anyway that this was anything but a dream of something that was immediately fresh in my mind due to many different recent conversations between grove and roommate with whom I talk to sometimes for hours at a time.

In any event, I'm not looking for that and should anything ever come up, well...I guess I would figure out what's the right thing to do then. But I guess it's good to know that sometimes things come up like that in a roundabout way on what I see as an extremely off chance at the very most of anything real coming up there.

The only vague possibility that I can think of IF there was actually some reason for it is that I've worked a little bit with runes in the past- not so much for a while- and I'm planning to do more for the divination part of ADF's clergy training program- the suggested texts are all either runes or ogham, and while I could fit what I know of runes on my pinky finger, I know absolutely NOTHING about ogham (though I've had some recent indication that I could probably learn it pretty easily, I also have reasons for not doing that though I have pondered the idea of creating my own tree-based divinatory system) and would rather start with somethign that I've done something with in the past rather than completely from scratch.

But still, it seems far too coincidental or trying to pull others' experiences in for myself. Like I said, I won't disregard your comments- and do appreciate them, but at the moment, I don't believe it.
