So much I never knew bout Apollo, er, Apple-Man. No wait, it's Hyperion oh hell, who was I talking about again?

http://www.lundyisleofavalon.co.uk/godsetc/apollo.htm

Soooo...apparently, Leto was born in Hyporborea- which is really somewhere in Britain. And "Apollo" comes from some Celtic word meaning "apple man" and is related to Avalon. Apollo is not associated with, but actually is the Celtic Bel. Oh, and his journey from Hyporborea (Britain)- which he makes every nineteen years, by the way- traces some line of a trans-European axis of sacred sites.

Riiiiiiiight.

All I have to say is "wows."

Sometimes, I think people read one single blurb from seminal academic papers and turn them into their own personal gospels. I suppose it could be worse, though. They could be trying to tie Mediterranean civilization with Central American (don't even get me started on THAT).

The argument goes as follows:

The Egyptians made pyramids. The Inca, they too made pyramids. There are these mummies in Egypt that seem to have traces of cocaine in their hair. That means the Inca came to Egypt, saw the pyramids, and then made their own. OMGBBQ!!!eleven!!111!

No. Seriously. That's the argument. Stop laughing. No, really, I know that the pyramids in each culture are completely different. Really. Not a joke.

I agree with sherara... looking through that site it seems apparant to me that the author just takes lines out of books and puts them up as facts. THe author is posting fiction books (like Holy Blood, Holy Grail) right next to scholarly texts.

It is all too silly to take seriously though.
