So back over the weekend, while going through some stuff, Gavin picked up my saxophone and pulled it out...I haven't played it since shortly after it was given to me a couple of years ago, partly because it's not really in very good shape, partly because it's an alto and dammit, I want a tenor.

I sucked on the reed a bit and gave it a shot to see how it sounded...a bit better than I remembered though it took me a few tries to get it sounding semi-decent, but it felt really good to play, even for a few minutes. I should find a music store and pick up a book and learn the fingering....

Add this to my list of things which I must make a more conscious effort to do more often....

Ah, bummer...

I don't think mine's really all that terrible, the main thing I immediately see is that it needs a new cork. It's not especially pretty though...lol...it was given to me by a friend of a former roommate who had it sitting in an attic for ages and didn't play, but didn't just want to junk it. I'm figuring it would be a good idea to have a shop take a look at it and see what they have to say.

I used to be able to replace that stuff myself. I need new pads, and new corks, and new springs. The whole thing is pretty much hosed. But, now that I have confirmation that I need a new one, maybe my husband will finally let me put it in the budget! Hopefully, yours can be fixed. I'm jealous!
