Broken doorknob- immediate help needed

hey folks, we have a minor crisis at home, and I am completely unable to leave work to try and do anything about it.

Our bathroom doorknob, one of those old-fashioned glass doorknobs, has decided to fall off with the door closed.

The screwplate isn't coming off, the door sticks in the frame but sticking a knife or something in there doesn't seem to help, and there is only that one bathroom in the apartment.

Phone call made and email sent to landlord...but for all I know, he's up in the Yukon territory right now and won't get the message for a day or so.

Oh, and I don't have the money to call a locksmith.

Ideas, suggestions, anything.

edit: Nevermind, crisis averted, door open. Yay for illegal weaponry!

Battle axes make a bigger statement. :) I also have an illegal butterfly knife that I acquired when my father passed away. He taught me to flip it when I was, like, twelve. He really should have had a son...haha

you know, i had the EXACT SAME THING happen at my apartment on Taylor...it was literally my first night there, and the doorknob broke on my bedroom.

cue my father laughing himself silly as he drove to my apartment at 6:30AM to let me out...and my boss laughing even harder when i showed up late with doorknob in hand.

Wow, at least I wasn't in the bathroom, just trying to get in. I don't tend to bring my cell phone in there with me, I would've been trapped in there all night. And wouldn't that have been fun. :-P

Sounds like every door in my house. I always have to caution guests -- don't close the bathroom door all the way, use the latch. Inevitably someone always gets trapped at every party.
