I used to do a good bit of meditation using electronic music- especially progressive breakbeat (I think I have the right sub-genre here...), generally with interesting results, very different from meditation without music. Habersham's Transparent Sound was really good for my brain getting to some interesting places.

Last night, I was listening to some Pat Foosheen and found a track that I've had but apparently never listened to, and was just blown away. It's called Zion, for anyone who might care. The forward-moving, layered wave-like structure of the piece kinda reminds me of Transparent Sound and the piece overall is vaguely remeniscent of a drum circle...if drum circles were electronically-generated. There are aso some wacky synesthesiac patterns, shapes and colors coming to mind that I'm having a hard time translating to words.

I need to pick this up again, meditation to the crazy music...lol

I can' meditate to music, I fall asleep. However, there was one time when I was at a gathering (Native American, I'm Cherokee) and there was tons of music and I just felt safe, loved, family, peace, all wrapped up together and I never felt like that from just music. I assume that is what meditation is like with music. I suck at it and don't do it much, calming myself down has never been easy for me.
