*CoughSniff*
Greetings from
fuzzyr and
corpslave's place in beautiful Beacon, NY. By beautiful, I mean cold and windy as hell. Someone turn off the damned fan.
Hopped the train up here Thursday. Fuzzy picked me up at the train station. Friday we departed 2 hours later than planned for Rochester for 88/89 sectionals.
I have not seen anyone up here snice Fuzzy and Chris's wedding in May '02, and had not been to a conference since Fall '01. That's a good chunk of time. I didn't expect to find things exactly as I'd left them...but for most of Friday night, I felt very lost. I spent a good long time isolated from the group on Friday ngiht, staring out the window of the UR student union, wondering if I had made a mistake coming back. I know I hadn't, but for a while I wondered. After checkin, a bunch of us went to Denny's and threw straw wrappers around and I was finding this world that I had known again.
Saturday I attended my first-ever sectional business meeting, mostly out of lack of anyhting else to do, then tok a nap til lunch (chinese food...woohoo!) Workshops were fun- improvisational comedy, yay!
Banquet later and dancing and stuff. I knew I was back in one of those places where I belong, smashed into the circle between Fuzzy and Ed Varel to sing the Toast Song and at the end of the night, we just went back to
cyberjunkie's and slept.
Speaking of which...congratulations Peri! Section 89 has a new chair. WooHoo!
This morning we came back on over to the school for breakfast, most people were already gone or just didn't show up. Left Fuzzy for a workshop and Chris and I went to entertain ourselves by visiting her sister-in-law at work and then going to Barnes and Noble. Came back, collected Fuzzy and Peri and went out for lunch before departing back to the other side of the state.
So here I am back at Chris and Fuzzy's place. Stuffed up, my voice recovering (Had gone to hell on Thursday, just finding its way back)So...I'm coming down with a cold. Planning to take a nice, hot steamy shower before too long
It was great to see everyone.
