Looking for some resumé advise here...
Sep. 2nd, 2009 10:01 pmOkay folks...for all of you more resumé-smart than me...
I'm trying to update my resumé, make it look all snazzy and make people want to throw money at me and stuff, but there's one thing that I'm really not sure how I should handle- that is, my technical support, experience, while I have a decent bit of it, to make it understandable requires color-coded graphs, flowcharts and probably a powerpoint presentation with a score orchestrated by John Williams.
This is because, along with my main job, I've also had several overlapping assignments in the last few years that lasted a few months at a time- including two separate instances of handling support for the same two companies, except that the first time was strictly phone support, the second time was strictly email support.
So basically, my timeline for the various assignments I've had looks like this (of course, this is not nearly as good as it would look on a resumé, I'm just trying to get the idea across.):
October 2006-March 2007
Phone/email support for 123 educational software
December 2006-March 2007
Phone support for ABC and XYZ games
March 2007-August 2009
Phone support and customer service for video and teleconferencing equipment, overnight support for same company's elite services
February 2008-June 2008
email support for 456 computer security software
Sometime in the last year (I'm going to have to drop an email to Rich and ask him for dates on this one)
email support for ABC and XYZ games
June 2009-August 2009
Phone billing support for The Worst Online Game Company in The World.
So the question is...how in the hell do I organize all of these things on a resumé? What I was thinking was to list the most recent major thing (the video and teleconferencing) and then the other minor things that came during that time in reverse chronological order, and then the second major thing (the educational software) and then the first instance of support for the ABC and XYZ games.
Um...does that make sense or would it be really stupid? Do I need to be looking for bootleg copies of Visio here?
Help?
